5:44 am - All is well........
Its been a long time since Ive posted.I figured I'd say something. Its almost 6am and I just got Kyle to sleep. He's doing good.He now weighs 8lbs 4 oz and is 20 inches long.He weighed 5lbs 11 oz and 18 inches at birth. We had to go to Texas Childrens hospital in houston 4 days after he was born.He had a backed up colon and his intestines were swelling due to it.Basicaly it was deadly constipation. He was in the ICU at the hospital he was born at and then transferred. We found out that he had what is called Left Colon Syndrome. It occurs in babies whos Mothers or famliy is diabetic.I am not diabetic but practically my whole family is.What happens is the left side of the colon is lazy,or sluggish, and has a very hard time passing miconium.Miconium is a very thick,black,tar-like poop that the baby gets from swallowing feces while in the womb. Most babies have it when they are born, but due to his left colon syndrome,it was almost deadly. He didnt have to have any surgery thank Gods.He was just highly monitered and got lots of enemas and now he is fine. The poop is flowing now.lol.The other problem is that he has a cleft on his soft palate, near his throat. It's not like the normal hard palate clefts where the lips is all messed up.His is at the back of his mouth so he has to be carefull how he swallows so that he doesnt get milk up into his nasal cavities and ears.We have to feed him careully.Right now his Dr.s dont want to do surgery on it,but they are watching it and if need be he can have surgey when hes at least a yr old.We were at Texas Childrens for 3 weeks. We were mainly there that long due to his cleft and him learning how to eat.Thats why he was on a feeding tube.It was really rough on bot h Matt and I.Im not gonna lie.I had to recover from a c-section in a huge hospital where everything was spaced out.Matt got a good workout everyday pushing my ass around in a wheelchair.I did not have a relaxing recovery to say the least.Matt took very good care of me and we made it through. Now Kyle is doing great, and getting so big! He's not able to breast feed so Im pumping milk every 3 hours. Our freezer is now a milk bank. Its alot of work but I refuse to let my child eat animal hormones and sugar filled steroids.I hate formula.Anyways, thats another topic on its on.I wanted to let everyone know we are all well, and settling into our new role as parents. We are making the transition nicely.Matt's going to be getting a camera phone shortly and will be posting pictures often Im sure. You probably wont hear to much from me since Im always so busy.So take care everyone and I will keep you updated when I can.If you'd like to chat or checkup on us you can call 409-984-5900 anytime.Bye!

Well the good news is that the baby is doing good and is dropping. The bad news is that Im steadily swelling.I gained 13 pounds in fluids in the past 2 weeks.Thats really bad.My blood pressure is ok for now but if it goes up I'll be in the hospital.Im somewhat on bed rest, and can only eat healthy fresh foods and no sodium at all.I from freaking Texas!!We dont eat healthy here!SO,if any of you have any recipe suggestions,or snack suggestions, they would be much appreciated.Im hungry!Im trying not to make Matt suffer just cuz I have to but cooking for him is torture!Im really trying to be good though.

1:35 pm - Oucheee
I had a HORRIBLE day yesterday.I dont know what was going on exactly, but I was in alot of pain. The right side of my back, near my ribs was a constant stab of pain, plus aching from my mid to lower back.Swollen feet and hands as usual also. The baby was moving kinda differently, and while laying in bed,I felt a release of pressure from my chest.so,I think he dropped.Im not carrying so high anymore, and I can actually breathe.Im going to the Dr.on Wed.so Hopefully Ill find out something.I might have dialated some ,I dont know.I hope he doesnt come until he's supposed to cuz his room isnt ready and we still need a couple of important items.Plus my doula is having gaulblatter surgery today and wont be available if I go into labor any time soon.It would be just me and Matt then, but he took the classes and was really attentive so I think he's gonna do well.I just cant have the baby before wed.night.Im going to see Star Wars. The baby will just have to wait.

4:28 pm - Mudbugs
Well Matt went to his first Southern crawfish boil yesterday. It was my cousin's graduation celebration.heh heh.Damian tagged along for the free crawfish, and we were quite anxious to see how Matt would do when faced with eating them.He did very well,I was impressed.Although he got tired of peeling them and kept trying to get me to peel them for him.He gave up and played washers while Damian and I ate and ate and ate.It was so good.Matt did a good job trying out my "wierd and disgusting" Southern ways.I might make a coonass of him yet...lmao I seriously doubt it.lol

current mood: Baby in my ribs, cant breathe

9:49 pm - A growing family
We now have 2 new additions to our family and its not a baby.AARRGGG!!(I have 4 weeks left so far). But we now have a new rat to keep Azrael company. His name is Albus Dumbledore. He's a sweetie, and kinda shy.Az likes him too so thats really good!Today Matt got a puppy. He saved him actually. The puppy ran out in front of the car and Matt stopped of course. He got out to see if the puppy was ok and he was,but he jumped right into Matts arms. So,he kept him.His name is Merlin and SO FAR hes been good.Im not a dog person at all,so Im hoping Matt takes care of him.I dont even know how to describe him.He looks like a shelty in the body but Lassie in the face.Hes blonde colored with huge brown eyes.Im impressed with how good he's been so far really.Usually I cant handle being around puppies for more than a couple of hours for some reason, but this ones not driving me insane. So we now have 2 new family members.I SWEAR the next one will be a human boy.It had better be at least!

We finally got a phone line so we now have the internet back at home.yay.Now I have another reason to be lazy and not do any housework.:)Everything is going well.I had the baby shower last weekend and it was good.We got some cool stuff. We still need some things but thats to be expected. Now all we need to do is get the nursery painted and set up.I cant wait for that.I had my video shoot yesterday and got PAID so now I can get the paint and supplies we need.Im freaking exhausted today.I took about 400-600 still photos and 6 hrs of video footage(that Matt was in also,so he got some cash too, yay!).I just have to say I have a new respect for porn actors and actresses and now know its not always fun and orgasms. Its hard to be sexy and seemingly horny for 8 hours.I got through it tho.Im about to start weekly visits to the dr. in 2 weeks.Sooner if my swelling doesnt stop.My left foot get so big its scary.I elevate it but it doesnt seem to help.Ive taken all the advice I get,and follow dr.s orders but it still swells up like the goodyear blimp.Ah well...I only have 7 weeks left.I think Ill go take a nap, since I have about 7 weeks to enjoy sleep. Later all....

7:22 pm - Keep drinking that BOTTLED water!
House Approves Broad Energy Bill

By H. JOSEF HEBERT, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The House approved a broad energy bill Thursday aimed at boosting domestic production, including provisions to allow oil drilling in an Alaska wildlife refuge and to shield makers of a gasoline additive from water contamination lawsuits.
The largely Republican crafted bill was approved 249-183 after two days in which the GOP majority turned back repeated attempts by Democrats to add measures they said would reduce energy use, including a proposal for higher automobile fuel economy requirements.
The bill includes $12 billion in tax breaks and subsidies for energy companies, more than the Bush administration said it wanted. Nevertheless the White House strongly endorsed the measure.
"This is a comprehensive piece of legislation and it does address one of the fundamental problems facing our nation and that is that we are growing more dependent on foreign sources of energy," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan.
Democrats argued that it would have little impact on U.S. reliance on oil imports and failed to address high gasoline and other energy prices.
Contentious issues during debate involved the gasoline additive, MTBE. The bill calls for shielding MTBE makers from product liability lawsuits stemming from contamination of drinking water supplies. Democrats warned the liability waiver would leave the public with billions of dollars in cleanup costs.
An attempt by Rep. Lois Capps (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., to strip the MTBE assistance from the energy bill was defeated, 219-213.
Capps said groundwater contamination from the gasoline additive has affected more than 1,800 community water systems in 29 states with a potential cleanup cost of $29 billion. MTBE makers, including large oil companies and refiners, dispute that estimate but have argued they need liability protection because of an expected surge in lawsuits.
The MTBE provision has been a top priority of Majority Leader Tom DeLay and Rep. Joe Barton (news, bio, voting record), chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, who argue that Congress endorsed the widespread use of the additive when it required gasoline contain an oxygenate to help clean up the air.
Both are from Texas where major MTBE manufacturers are located.
The energy bill would shield these companies from lawsuits claiming that MTBE is a defective product and that the companies knew all along it would cause water contamination problems. At least 80 lawsuits involving MTBE have been filed.
The bill also calls for phasing out MTBE use by the end of 2014 — longer than MTBE critics say is necessary — and would provide $2 billion over eight years to help the manufacturers shift away from making the additive.
"They're not giving MTBE manufacturers a slap on the wrist. They're giving them a pat on the back," said Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California where MTBE contamination has been widespread. "It is the taxpayers who are stuck with the bill."
The MTBE issue was blamed for blocking approval of energy legislation in the Senate in 2003 as Democrats waged a filibuster against the provision. It is expected to cause a problem with the bill in the Senate again.
The White House expressed reservations about the extent of subsidies and tax breaks for oil and gas companies, particularly $2 billion for research into deep water oil and gas development.
DeLay, who has been fighting allegations of unethical conduct involving his travels and other issues, has been the primary force behind both the MTBE industry assistance and money for deep-water drilling research.
The administration believes the energy bill should not contain any new taxpayer subsidies for oil-and-gas exploration, said the president's Office of Management and Budget.
Democrats denounced the overall bill as a giveaway to traditional energy industries.
It is "clearly designed to help energy companies make more money, not help the American people save money," Pelosi told reporters, describing the bill as "anti-consumer, anti-taxpayer and anti-environment."
House Republican leaders said the bill reflects an attempt to diversify energy production and ease dependence on foreign oil by producing more energy at home.
By a vote of 231-200, the House late Wednesday rejected an attempt to strip from the bill a section to allow oil drilling on the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in northeastern Alaska. The House has given the go-ahead for drilling there twice in the past four years, only to see the issue die in the Senate each time.
The bill calls for $8.1 billion in tax breaks over 10 years, most of it going to promote the coal, nuclear, oil and natural gas industries. In addition it calls for $2 billion over 10 years to fund research into oil and gas recovery in extremely deep areas of the Gulf of Mexico.
